I don't need Gerard Way to save my life, honest

I am pretty much sitting on my hands to keep myself from buying a concert ticket to see My Chemical Romance in November. *fidgets uncomfortably*

Because, you see, the thing is - the two shows that I might conceivably go to are in faraway places, that is, London and Newcastle, which means I'd have to pay for trains and hotels as well as the ticket, and food and wine and stuff, and it would be a lot of money which I don't have.

I keep trying to remind myself that the show would probably be full of teenagers anyway, and I'd be filled with impotent rage towards Other People, and not be able to see anything, and...

Then again, I've got it bad. Bad. And by bad I mean that I have an old copy of Kerrang and I'm considering bluetacking pictures of MCR and FOB on my walls. That bad.

Yeah. *sits on hands*

When you're 70 years old, are you going to look back and say 'wow, I'm glad I stayed in that night when I could have seen MCR. It was so much more fulfilling to be in my flat instead of at that concert'?

If not, buy the ticket.

You make a valid point, my friend. That said, staying in my flat reading porn is both fulfilling and free. *ponders*

Dooo iiit. Train tickets aren't THAT expensive if you book well in advance, and you can get pretty cheap accomodation too. (Travel lodge is always an option, or even hostels if you're not opposed to those. Y'know, take the low-budget rock and roll approach. *g*) If you could drag other people with you and make a weekend out of it, all the better! Counting it as a proper trip away makes the expense seem far less extravagant.

(Also? If you came to the Newcastle show, I would totally protect you from all the scary teenagers. Or not! If you want to avoid crazy internet people then that's fine, hee. Just thought I'd offer.)

You going to the Newcastle show? I'm kind of tempted by that one, as it would be a lot cheaper. Then again, the whole thing would still come 100 pounds at least, which is a bit more than I have to spare. *contemplates*

[identity profile] saturnalia.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
I am indeed going to the Newcastle show! I was a bit hesitant at first about buying tickets for various reasons (What if it's lame and I'm disappointed? What if I have no one to go with? Won't I look out of place? etc etc) But I eventually figured- well, I live in Newcastle, it would be kind of ridiculously easy to go, and I'd regret it if I didn't. Everyone I've ever spoken to about it has said that MCR are fabulous live, and I really do adore their music.

i really want to go to it too but know no-one who is going... other than that it is easy for me to go - i am in durham, 15min train ride from newcastle...

my advice do what makes you happy!

Hee, I'm starting to feel like we should have some kind of fandom meet-up for the concert, except that I have no idea if there even are any other fans in this area. So maybe not.

I won't have a chance to see them until next year at the latest, so I don't even need to worry about temptation. Also that I can start saving spare change in a jar now and maybehopefully have a chance when they are touring the US again.

Well, that's the other thing. Cause I don't think they will tour the UK for a long while, so this is my last chance to try it, really. *fidgets some more*

[identity profile] violentviolethp.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 09:41 am (UTC)(link)
Whoa! I am going to both of those shows. I'm staying with a friend in London, but I've already booked a hotel in Newcastle, so you're very welcome to share if you want. I'm an American university student studying at St Andrews, and none of my friends here are terribly interested in MCR, so I'll be going alone. I could use the company if you decide to go and aren't freaked out by random lurkers commenting on your journal. :)

I'm still undecided, but thanks for the offer anyway! Which hotel are you going to in Newcastle?

[identity profile] violentviolethp.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm staying at the Quality Hotel Newcastle. I believe it's quite near the train station, which is convenient for me since that's how I'll be traveling.

I keep trying to remind myself that the show would probably be full of teenagers anyway

That's what I thought when I went to see them - actually, there was a nice range of ages (I'm 31) and I liked the teen crowd because a huge majority painted their faces and sang their hearts out when MCR did Wembley Arena. MCR attract a good energetic crowd (they were singing their hearts out at Wembley Stadium despite a lot of people standing around and turning their noses up at MCR) and you'll have an amazing time.

Go - they are so worth it /bounces and waits for tickets to arrive/

That sounds reassuring. I'd get a seated ticket anyway, so I'll be less likely to get accidentally beaten/felt up by rowdy teenagers. ;)

You going to see them as well?

[identity profile] dvslj.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I am 99% sure I am going *g*
