Here are some of the best things I have read this week:
War Poetry by
eudaimon
Tonks/Charlie, a short piece of great writing.
eudaimon writes a Tonks I love, and she creates the character here, creates the apocalyptic sense of the end of the war, and all her conflicting emotions. Gorgeous writing.
John, I'm only dancing by
underlucius
Remus/Fenrir, dense, vivid and intoxicating, and not nearly as disturbing as you might assume from the pairing. Very much worth reading.
Contact by
kabeyk
Harry/Draco, contacts made in the war, and as funny, sweet and hot as you would expect from
kabeyk.
And at last, without any doubt the most enjoyable thing I've read in a long time:
Harry Potter and the Inconvenient Condition by
mirabellawotr
This advertises itself as crackfic, and it is certainly aware of cliches, in the Harry-is-a-vampire-and-Draco-is-his-mate kind of thing. It is also extremely funny, incredibly sexy, and rather sweet in the way the greatest of fiction can be.
mirabellawotr is possibly the best writer of HP fanfic there is, she does serious plotty drama with angst and humour and sex and characterisation with the best of them. She is the kind fo writer that reminds us that JKR is a children's writer, and what could be done with the HP world in the hands of an adult writer (see The Shadow of His Wings). She also writes the greatest humorous porn (see The Malfoy Guide to Extortion). You should read her work, or you are seriously missing out. :)
