14valentines, and the topic is Body Image. Here are some thoughts on women and tattoos.
If you google “women” and “tattoos”, several sites on the first page will lead you to articles about women wanting to remove their tattoos. (The other top sites include 100 Sexiest Women And How Many Have Tattoos and a discussion on whether women with tramps stamps are diseased sluts.) All of these articles refer to the same research done by Myrna Armstrong at Texas Tech University, which showed that women are more likely than men to want their tattoos removed. In ABC news, the story is titled “Women Race To Get Tattoos Erased”, and introduced through the tale of a woman who got her tattoo at age 18 during a road trip with friends, and who “hasn’t yet thought seriously” about getting it removed.( Read more... )
