You've just given us a reason why Remus is the way he is--so polite, and distant.
This is why I like to think he is like that, and the whole idea of controlling his appearance and there being hidden depths of passion beneath the surface. An awareness of what might happen if he doesn't, and the need to control other people's perception of him for survival. And why I love Remus.
