Thank you so much! I know what you mean about the very!dark!Sirius. I actually found it difficult to write a sufficiently dark!Sirius (whatever that means), not only because he still needs to be someone Remus can want at the end of the story, but also because to describe him as evil goes against my idea of Sirius, not to mention canon.
I'm glad you felt the narration of wartime worked, it was both difficult and enjoyable to write, and I found myself getting more and more involved with how they manage to live on regardless.
