My Macbook, which I shall be getting back from the repair people at the end of this week, uses Tiger as its operating system. I have been advised to upgrade to the most recent one, the Snow Leopard, which I am happy to do. I am unsure, however, whether I can just buy the Snow Leopard programme and install it when I don't have the intermediate one, Leopard. Anybody knowledgeable about such things? I would like to buy the program off Amazon before I get the computer back as it's a lot cheaper.

Also, I can use Open Office to open and write on Microsoft Word programmes, correct?

I've only started using Open Office recently and I find that it sometimes screws up the formatting of tables and forms when I open Word docs using it. I haven't got it fully figured out yet though, I need to play around some more.
