Dear Inception fandom,

I have a query.

I have noticed, in the general flailing over the delightfulness of Tom Hardy, that one of the trope fandom reactions to his admittedly mindbogglingly charming self is one of logical discrepancy. To be precise, the incongruence of the two following concepts.

Tom Hardy is intelligent and articulate.
Tom Hardy has muscles and tattoos.

Please explain this. Because surely, surely, we in fandom are not so stupid as to assume that tattooed people cannot also be well-spoken and thoughtful. What with the evidence of, you know, most of fandom being like this.

I think it's more like:

In his free time, Tom Hardy dresses like a thug and/or does myspace poses.
Tom Hardy is intelligent and articulate.

I second this. I will also add that it's not the existence of tattoos (which I have many of myself) but WHAT THE TATTOOS ARE.

Tom Hardy IS both of those things. However, Tom Hardy of the written word is pretty rambling and carries a flagrant disregard for capitalization, punctuation, and grammar. I still love his face.
