I am still a little confused by the differences between granting access and subscribing, and the different levels of friendship this indicates. Um. Also, I am troubled by the fact that I cannot make my journal green.

Granting access means you are letting people read your locked posts (unless you specifically create a filter to filter them out - filters are not yet functioning, but will be after open beta). Subscribing means you want to read someone's posts. So if you don't grant access, and someone has subscribed to your journal, they can read your public posts, but not your locked ones. Alternately, you can grant access, because you don't mind if people read your locked posts, but not subscribe, because you don't want to read their journal for whatever reason.

You can make it green, it just requires... a lot of tinkering. My eyes feel like boiled grapes! (Assuming grapes turn watery and mushy when boiled.)
