Review SGA: 304 Sateda

I have just rewatched Sateda (And taped it! On video! After spending half an hour trying to refigure how those things work - it's been so long. Bless.)

Anyway. My Important Thoughts here:

i. Oh Rodney. He makes such pretty noises, doesn't he? Lots more squealing noises in this season, I've noticed, and I can only approve, for Rodney-noises are a thing of joy. Also, I'm liking the fact that John immediately puts his arm around Rodney after he's been shot and asks after him when they get back.

Not to mention that Rodney on morphine is marvellous (Hasn't there been a million fanfics about this, though, and usually somewhat better and funnier?). This guy with messy hair? That he'd lost? Awww. And Rodney experimenting with noises. Awwwww. Although I'm not very happy with Beckett and Elizabeth, as they clearly failed to appreciate his pain. *frowns at the nasty people*

ii. John making bad jokes while in danger. I'm starting to find this quite endearing. Especially with the looks Teyla keeps giving him.

iii. Caldwell. I actually like the man, despite the fact that he is a) Evil Boss in US Military and b) bald. And not just cause he argues with Elizabeth. But he could very easily just be Evil Military Man, and they've made him reasonable, and honest, and interesting. Not to mention that he refuses to play the bad guy, no matter how much Elizabeth tries to make him. Go Stephen! Also, he supports Rodney, and Sheppard has added him to the list of people he accidentally flirts with. ;)

iv. John and Teyla on the Daedalus. I was interested to note that Teyla brought "her people" along for the discussion. No wonder John was so bothered. But still, John trying to talk about his feelings will never stop being funny. Particularly as he clearly doesn't want to talk about them with Teyla's people. Yes, I think that joke is hilarious. Adds so much to one's enjoyment of the show.

v. Rodney and Beckett on the Daedalus. I don't like it when people are nasty to Rodney, and Beckett here makes rather personal and unprovoked attacks. Asking Rodney to explain why he is here (as if 'he's on my team' wouldn't be reason enough, as if there was ever a question of Rodney not going - like John would allow that) and asking him to justify his relationship with Ronon. Surely it must be obvious to everyone that Rodney, regardless of what he might say, is somewhat sensitive about his lack of people skills, and would worry about the strength of his relationships with others. This actually reminds me of The Pegasus Project, and how Rodney behaves with people he knows don't like him. The same more obnoxious and slightly wounded tone. Oh Rodney. *smacks nasty Carson*

vi. Ronon tweaking Rodney's nipple in reassurance at the end. Not that I blame him; they are rather pointy and clearly begging for attention. I wonder if this is a team tradition, something they all do after a difficult mission? One can only hope. *g*

That's the thing - it's almost as if he's been written as a bad guy, and the actor refuses to play it that simply. I love the way he behaves with Elizabeth; clearly fancying her, but refusing to be either a puppet or a villain as she'd like him to. *hearts caldwell*
