Here's a question for all of you who watch Torchwood. I've been thinking a lot about the development of Jack/Ianto throughout the series, and while it's enjoyable to imagine them shagging before, after, and during each episode, I'm not sure I can believe that they would, immediately after Cyberwoman. Which is not to say that I'm not writing fic about that precise topic even as we speak (5000 words and growing, with Ianto breaking down a lot and Jack pointing a gun at him), but even so, watching the episode makes me wonder if that could plausibly happen. The thing is, I would really love to read fic where it happens and where I can believe it (which of course is why I'm writing it), but, hmmm, yeah. Not sure, with all that anger and betrayal and violence. I'm not sure either of them would want to. So, a poll. *g*

Would you believe it? Share your thoughts! Share the scenarios where you can imagine it might happen! Share your thoughts with illustrative porn!

Ahem.

See, it isn't so much the anger that's an issue for me (because angry!sex, mm, yes please). Ianto isn't angry in the end, he's completely devastated and probably in no fit state to be making rational decisions. So, yeah, I can see him doing it in a desperate, lost sort of a way.

It's more not making Jack a completely exploitative bastard and letting him rationalise it in a way that doesn't make him feel skeevy.

Anyway, I'm back now. ;)

Hmm, well, as you have read the thing, do you think Jack comes off as a manipulative bastard? In a bad way, I mean? *g*

Sex is a very powerful confirmation of life, so it wouldn't be a hard sell for me, especially with the anger and violence.

Well, I'm looking forward to hearing what you think about my attempt. You may expect gun porn later tonight! :)

Whilst I definitely can see it happening, the thing I do find a little problematic - and this goes for all pre-Cyberwoman and immediately post- fics - is reconciling Ianto's obvious devotion to and love of Lisa with the idea he'd be prepared to sleep with someone else. Very doable, certainly, and in lots of different interesting ways, but I do think it presents a bit of problem, or a challenge I suppose. I don't the anger aspect is actually that much of an issue - Jack asserting his authority again in an alpha-male style thing springs to mind.

Eh, that was rambly! Sticking with 'maybe', anyway.

Hmm, that's a good point. I've read a few things that mention Ianto's partial disillusionment with Lisa before Cyberwoman - how he kind of knows that she is less human already, but doesn't want to admit to it - that could explain how he might end up in Jack's bed quite quickly afterwards. And yes, I can definitely see how Jack might want to reassert his authority. *g*

I'm currently downloading Torchowood, so from now on, I shall avoid your Torchowwod posts so I won't be able to have any spoilers...
But... but... but... I couldn't help but reading this one! :DDD

Ooh but you are in for a treat. I find that rewatching the show with particular attention to Jack/Ianto makes it all the more enjoyable. *g*

When you're finished, have a look at my del.icio.us recs - there's a lot of Torchwood stuff! :)

I certainly shall! almost everybody in my flist keeps repeating : Torchwood is good, Torchwood is great...
So I feel the need to watch it. Plus I do practice my English (well, I should stay "practice my hearing", because I just suck at English pronunciation).

Ianto? who is he? :DDD *rushes to see the second episode*

Ianto is the receptionist, introduced by Jack in the first episode as the man who takes care of them, gets them where they need to go on time, and looks good in a suit. *g*

I dunno about immediately after, but for purposes of my own fic, I've had them shagging for the first time fairly soon afterwards, and with it happening partly as a release-of-still-existing-tensions thing. So I can definitely see events of Cyberwoman-->porn, but having it happen immediately after would have to be pretty convincingly written not to strain my credulousness. Which is not to say I wouldn't be willing to employ a little suspension of disbelief for the sake of good Torchwood porn.

(Also, hi, I've read a bunch of your Torchwood fics and related posts now and you seem cool, so there may be friending.)

Welcome! And yes, there is quite a lot of tension going on in that episode, which is why I would be so interested in reading fiction that takes place immediately after. All that intense emotion has to go somewhere, after all! *g*

Hello! You don't know me at all but I just clicked through to read your (amazing) TW fic and thought I'd throw in my 2 cents here.

I've seen a lot written about Jack and/or Ianto's anger and sense of betrayal after Cyberwoman, but for me it tends to fall short, because those feelings have such a brief life in th episode itself. I think Ianto knew all along that he was in the wrong -- he even threatens Lisa himself, but can't follow through on it. Afterwards, I think his prevailing reaction is grief, and in the following episodes he seems to be more committed to Torchwood (and therefore Jack). He wants to be important to Jack.

So, yes, I could see it being done convincingly in fic.

Well, that's the thing - we do see him threaten Lisa and he does seem to realise what she is in the end. Not to mention that we know he comes back afterwards, looking all lost and grieving. *pets Ianto*
