Two questions

1. How do you do that thing where you save your journal on your computer, for macs?

2. So, where are we going then?

Two HP fanartists have been suspended because of their art. Said art was not depicting minors, although this was the excuse. Apparently there is no appeal process.

Which is, frankly, unacceptable. And this means we are none of us safe. Because if they are suspending accounts for having gay porn in them - even if that porn is about legal, consenting adults - then livejournal is not a good place for fandom. Any fandom.

The question of where to go, though. People are saying insanejournal is better in terms of policies about fanfiction (apparently fanfiction is against the TOS at greatestjournal?). What are you thinking?

Come to Insanejournal! It's downright ugly but apparently the bloke in charge has kind of invited fandom over. :)

Well, the idea that fanfiction is copyright infringement is on pretty shaky legal ground. I personally didn't read anything in the GJ TOS that made me think it would be an unsafe place for fanfiction or fanart - I read the copyright thing as being against plagiarism.

I won't be getting an IJ, because I find their mockery of mental illness distasteful. I know that fanarchive and ponderosa (on GJ) are talking about fan-run services, but I think they're a way off yet.

Why is LJ doing this?!? Strikethrough had me panicking like a headless chicken for three whole days, and now that I thought it was safe to ENJOY my gay porn, they go and do this.

I'm currently checking out InsaneJournal, but the layout is kinda turning me off. It's a little unappealing, to say the least.

I thought Pond had Sirry chan? Or at least I remember enjoying looking at a particular Sirry piece that I could swear was hers... in any case, it sucks, but I think I'm staying right where I am. I like how LJ is set up, for all their faults, so... *sigh*

The particular piece of art that was complained about was Harry/Snape, both as adults.

I know what you mean, I'm not terribly keen to go myself. But if they begin to have policies against fanfiction/art, then I don't think I can stay.

Yeah, I saw that and started to reconsider. It's less the fact that lj might choose to disallow certain things, which they are entitled to do, and considering that post, may have good reason to do. It's more the way they went about it - for those particular pictures, which weren't about minors, and without any warning, without stating that such things are not allowed.

Still, it's a mess. I'm not convinced that fanfic about consenting adults who are unrelated will continue to be allowed, and that's why I'm thinking about leaving. Should that happen, though, I will still continue to stalk your journal here. :)
