Today is my 32nd birthday. You may now begin to shower me with presents.
It's a sunny day, and warm enough that it feels like spring. Yesterday my Bulgarian friend gave me a martenitsa, which I'm going to wear until I either a) see a stork (unlikely, as I'm not quite sure what a stork looks like) or b) see a tree in flower. Whenever I see a sign of spring, I guess, although I like to think that early March is already spring, and that my birthday is in spring, and I will fight you if you say otherwise. Ahem. I have strong feelings about this.
I'm having coffee with some chocolates, and thinking about writing an Inception Regency AU where Eames wins Arthur in a game of cards. In a few hours I'm going out to have a celebratory danish with a friend, and then to town for some shopping. I have a birthday tradition of buying myself one pair of underwear - it's cheap enough that no matter how poor I am, I can afford it, and as it is a birthday treat I can afford to get something a bit nicer than what I'd normally buy. The most expensive pair so far was £9 for turquoise Calvin Klein pants. I am wearing them at the moment. *g*
Today is also Pancake Day, and I'm going to spend this evening eating pancakes with raspberry jam and drinking rosé wine with friends. It's also the International Women's Day, and while I'm sure all of you are already celebrating women and thinking about women and, probably, having arguments with idiots over why we need an International Women's Day, I would like to draw you attention to my favourite public figure who is a woman: Judith Butler. She does things with gender that make my life better, and makes my academic life so much more interesting.
So what are you doing today?
