A question for those of you who have read Naomi Novik's Victory of Eagles, as I have gone Away For Christmas and don't have my copy with me. What is Laurence's status at the end of the book? He is on the ship, but is he, technically speaking, a prisoner? Is he allowed to move within the ship? Does he have his own cabin? Does Tharkay have his own cabin? What about Granby? At what point does Granby join then and how long have they been travelling by then?

Um, no pornish reason for asking. *g*

Laurence is allowed some free movement (he tells his guard "You will explain to Temeraire that I am not allowed abovedecks" when they look surly about him leaving his dark little cell/cabin) and Tharkay is there as Riley's guest, presumably with his own cabin though I don't believe it's mentioned. Granby shows up before they even get to Gibraltar--just a few days, I think.

Ooh, so he has his own cabin? That's good to know. And yeah, I figured Tharkay would as well but I wanted to know for sure whether it was mentioned.

Thank you so much, that was incredibly helpful! Now I just need to worry about getting them all to bed. *ponders*
