I went to a party on Friday, ended up coming home at 4 am and being too hungover to get up until 7 pm. I think I should reconsider my party-drinking plans. Still, it was a good party, and I had a lovely chat about Judith Butler and was given the opportunity to list all the English monarchs from William the Conqueror onwards, which, if you know me, is my idea of the most fun you can have.

There was also a Guy Who Would Not Take No For An Answer. I'm sure you've all met one. He wasn't too objectinable, but he kept to my side for most of the evening, and kept telling me how attractive he found me even though I told him this feeling was to reciprocated, and kept wanting to talk to me and convince me I should got out with him even though I didn't want to. This annoys me more in retrospect than it did at the time. I'm not sure how he managed to not be actively aggravating, but by the end of the night he had worn me down enough not to object when he pulled me over to thee garden and kissed me. I didn't particularly want to, but I also didn't object, and this bothers me now - I could have said no, and didn't. But I also didn't really want to be there, so why did I let him get away with it? I could have pushed him away. I suspect that somewhere in the back of my mind there was a thought that well, he seems really keen on this, and I am not actively repulsed by him, so might as well. Except now that I think back on it, I am somewhat repulsed. It was just a brief kiss and a hug, no tongue even, but I still wish I hadn't gone along with it.

Bah, anyway.
Here's some fic that I've enjoyed this weekend.

all my friends are bad kids by [livejournal.com profile] blackwayfarers. The Social Network RPF, Jesse/Andrew, 20000 words, roadtrip. This is a story that makes life seem richer and more interesting than it does in reality. Also, it made me want to do a roadtrip across America, which is not an urge I have felt before.

And by the same author, not a through street. The Social Network RPF, Jesse/Andrew, 25000. Andrew moves in with Jesse and there is sweet love and pining.

Carpe Brewski by [livejournal.com profile] gyzym. X-Men: First Class, Charles/Erik, Fratboy AU. There is a lot of drinking and pining and hilarity, and it makes me gurgle with joy. WIP.

Limited Release. X-Men: First Class, Charles/Erik, Modern AU where Erik is an FBI agent at the mutant department and Charles is a genetics professor at Columbia. This also makes me gurgle with joy, but sometimes there are also high-pitched squealing noises and actual flapping of hands. It's that DELIGHTFUL. If you only read one fic in this post, read this one. Also, WIP, sadly, but updated regularly.

URGH. I'm sorry you had to put up with such an awful guy. But I am very pleased to hear that you got the opportunity to demonstrate your impressive knowledge of the English monarchy!

And thanks v much for the links! Having the Charles/Erik presented to me greatly pleases my lazy little self.
