wildestrangerWhat have you been up to? Major life changes? Same old same old?
I started a new job a month ago, which I don't hate. I don't expect I'll want to stay there for the rest of my life, but so far it is not actively unpleasant, my colleagues are both reasonable and professional, and the work/pay ratio won't leave me both exhausted and starving, so all in all, it is a massive step up from previous job.
What fandom are you in/do you spend most of your time in?
WELL. I am still very invested in Dead French Revolutionaries, and continue to write fic in Les Miserables. Currently I have the Modern British AU ongoing, and a modern AU where Grantaire rage-quits his job and moves to Lisbon, which I wrote at my previously-mentioned and detested job. It did not become autobiographical in the end, but I am spending a lot of time thinking about what does one do when one suddenly moves to another country with no job etc, so who knows. Lisbon has some beautiful views, and I really like the Portuguese language.
I am also reading in: MCU (I have a lot of feelings about Bucky Barnes), Hannibal, Kingsman, Man from UNCLE. I am no longer reading anything about hockey, because fuck Patrick Kane.
Where do you hang out online?
Mostly Tumblr, but I have open tabs on dreamwidth and livejournal which I check everyday. Also twitter, and of course, AO3.
What are you reading?
I am reading: Jose Saramago, Fernando Pessoa, Juan Goytisolo, non-fiction books about the Spanish Civil War, various French revolutions, and I'm about to start on a reading project on Moorish Spain, as I will be visiting Granada on November.
I am rereading: Dorothy Dunnett. Currently a fifth read of The Pawn in Frankincense, where everybody keeps telling Jerott Blyth about how much he fancies Francis Crawford.
What are you watching?
I just finished Hannibal, which I enjoyed immensely for both how intelligently done it was and for the subtle and interesting relationship between Will and Hannibal. Also, the beautiful scenery in Italy.
I am also (re)watching Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, for she is glorious above all things, and am about to catch up on Elementary.
What are you making?
Mostly I am making Grantaire. I have given him all my bad thoughts, and they seem to suit him well.
What are you squeeing about today?
Seperis's Down to Agincourt Supernatural AU. I stopped watch the show in season 6, and this fic has made me start again, just so I can see more of Castiel's face. It is the Dorothy Dunnett of fanfiction - three finished novels, fourth currently being posted, and four more planned. What else is on your mind?
Languages. Am trying to decide whether to start seriously studying Italian or Portuguese - both are interesting, but I am undecided on what I want to use them for.
